Vintage Wine Estates purchases Cameron Hughes WineThe purchase of Cameron Hughes Wine has been finalized announced Pay Roney, President and CEO, Vintage Wine Estates. Cameron Hughes Wine is a wine négociant specializing in the acquisition, blending, and marketing of fine wines with personalized service under its namesake label founded in 2001 by Cameron Hughes and Jessica Kogan.

Both founders Cameron Hughes and Jessica Kogan will remain in leadership roles in the company; Cameron Hughes as Vintner and face of the brand and Jessica Kogan as the Chief Marketing Strategist and Innovation Officer. The majority of Cameron Hughes employees will retain their positions.

Vintage Wine Estates intends Cameron Hughes to retain its autonomy with the company remaining based in San Francisco.

“The Cameron Hughes and Vintage Wine Estates business models are very complementary in their robust focus on technology and digital innovation in the direct to the consumer wine space. Our goal will be to create a best-in-class quality, selection, value and personal service direct-to-consumer company,” explained Roney.

“This is a situation where one plus one will equal three in the digital wine space.  We are looking forward to having the shared vision and the resources to accomplish what we originally set out to do,” remarked Kogan.

Cameron Hughes will continue to source small-lot, limited production wines for the Cameron Hughes brand as he has in the past.

“I am looking forward to leveraging the Vintage Wine Estates relationships with top-tier vineyards, growers and producers to complement our existing relationships to elevate the portfolio,” commented Hughes.

The purchase also includes Sales Pros, the in-store wine, beer and spirits event and insights company. Sales Pros will continue under present management based in Austin, Texas.
