Tonic Waters Need More Flavors, According To Lixir TonicNowadays, it’s getting really hard to compete in beverage industry. However, with a right idea and huge support, everything is possible. Lixir Tonic is a startup brand based in United Kingdom. All-natural flavored tonic water brand is looking for support to begin its journey. Today, I have the pleasure of talking with Jordan Palmer, the Co-Founder of Lixir Tonic.

How did you come up with the idea behind Lixir Tonic?

The idea developed when Matt my business partner and I noticed that whilst there were loads of flavoured spirits, in particular gin, the same couldn’t be said for mixers – in particular tonic waters. So, we set about creating a range that placed a greater emphasis on new and exciting flavours as well as being versatile, and thus Lixir Tonic was born!

“Lixir Tonic is a range of all-natural flavoured tonic water.” Why do you think consumers are looking for natural products?

I think it’s occurred from the growing popularity in the health and well-being trend. Consumers are now paying much more attention to what they’re putting in to their bodies and this has created a need for all-natural, especially in the food and drink sector. I’m always conscious in my decisions when choosing what to eat and drink and making sure our range of drinks were all-natural (no artificial flavours, sweeteners or preservatives – just the good stuff!) was really important to us.

Right now, there are 5 different flavours of Lixir Tonic. Which one is your favourite?

We’ve got 5 tonics in our range, our Blood Orange & Cinnamon, Rhubarb & Ginger, Elderflower & Lemon, Classic Indian and Refreshingly Light. My personal favourite is the Rhubarb & Ginger – I love the sweetness from the rhubarb, followed by the warm spice of ginger! It’s amazing mixed with rum, but I can also quite happily enjoy it neat over ice! The drink that’s had the biggest ‘wow’ factor in sampling though is our Blood Orange & Cinnamon tonic, it’s had a great reception!

The beverage industry is quite competitive. What makes Lixir Tonic differ in the beverage market?

Simple! We’re bringing new flavour experiences to the tonic water category that haven’t been done before. This brought us to developing our slogan ‘More Than Just A Mixer’ – we have a truly versatile range that pair well with a variety of white and dark spirits, as well as being a great stand-alone sophisticated soft drink that can be enjoyed neat over ice.

What is the hardest part of being a Start-Up?

I think the hardest part for us is it’s just two of us running every aspect of the business at the moment and having full-time jobs as bartenders on top of this means there never seems to be enough hours in the day. It’s not a normal lifestyle but the buzz of learning new aspects of running a business, creating content on social media and bringing a new product to market is awesome! We wouldn’t have it any other way!

Tell us about Lixir Tonic crowdfunding campaign and main goals.

We’re crowdfunding to help make Lixir Tonic readily available for you to enjoy! The funding through our campaign will help us carry out our first production run. Don’t worry, we’re not asking for a donation! We have a variety of reward packages (starting from £10) available to purchase on our site – we’ve even partnered with a range of really exciting spirits partners to offer a package for everyone! Our main goal with the campaign is making sure we reach our target of £14,250. Longer term over the next 12 months our main goal is to make Lixir Tonic a viable business a and to gain distribution is bars, pubs and restaurants across the country!
